New e-signature solution for better security in Mobile Generation

SelfieSign is a new e-signature solution for better security in the mobile generation

Online shopping and money transfer on mobile devices have become an integral part of our daily life. It is easy, and it happens real-time. However, user passwords or one-time passwords (OTP) can expose users to the risk of being hacked and result in failed verification of the given password. Even though there is fingerprint recognition, it is still possible for fingerprints to be stolen without the person knowing.

SelfieSign video records the signing process as the person signs. It is through facial recognition, signature traces and recorded video that we are able to verify the identity of the signer, see his or her consent in the document. What is more, the record of the signing process can be pulled out for review, thus protecting both parties.

The unique characteristics of SelfieSign:

Biometric Traits

Video recording can capture and record the signer’s image and movements, and therefore verify his or her identity via biometric traits unique to each person.

Explicit Consent

Video signature can prove that the person clearly expressed his or her will to sign the document.

Sufficient Evidence

A complete record of when and where the signing took place, who participated and how it happened is available.

Human Centered

SelfieSign makes up for the shortcomings of e-signature solutions today in identity authentication by providing evidences; It is via cross-verification of the video and the signature that we verify the signer’s identity.

On top of that, the recorded video also serves as evidence for users to verify with their own eyes.

There are limitations to traditional e-signature solutions.

Traditional e-signature solutions use public key infrastructure (PKI)* to verify the signer’s identity. Although they are commonly used and have legal validity, they do not meet today’s needs:

  • Smart cards with public key infrastructure (PKI) can only be used on PCs

  • Only two-factor authentication (2FA), username and password (what you know) and one-time password (what you have) are used for identity verification

  • Low levels of transparency and visibility, not reaching today’s expectations of information security

* Note: Public key infrastructure is a technology used for authenticating people and devices.

Recently, biometric identifier factors (who you are)such as fingerprints, facial recognition, voiceprint and even videohave been introduced.

SelfieSign is the only e-signature solution that guarantees:

  • 3A (Aware, Acknowledge, Approve); Aware means the signer should be the person intended; Acknowledge means the person should recognize the document to be signed; Approve means the signer can then put his or her name down

  • 5W1H (Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How) of each e-document signed successfully

  • 4 biometric traits, namely image and video-based biometrics, voice biometrics and signature biometrics of the signer
